| Anonymous 02/25/09 16:32:29 Calling this "A/C" is misleading. This is an evaporative cooler, which is very different than an air conditioner.
"One of" the downsides is that it uses lots of water. I think a bigger downside is that it's essentially useless except in a dry-heat climate - ie it wouldn't work in "the South" mentioned in the previous comment.
